MYTHOLOGY

I think mythology is a universal language, because through it we discover our humanity and inhumanity.  Across the cultural stories you can find aspects of real life, like our relationships with each other, our relationships with the world, and our relationship with the divine. Myths are beautiful and brutal, just like life.

READING AND BOOKS

Over the years, I’ve read many kinds of historical fiction and fantasy. Reading is truly an escape from the real world, right? My first sword and sandal epic was Howard Fast’s Spartacus. JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings was the first fantasy that literally transported me to another head space. And my first real crush (and I mean hard crush) on a character was James Fraser in the Outlander series.  Currently, I’m enjoying G.R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Of all the books I’ve ever read, the Iliad and the Odyssey are the only ones I’ve read over and over again.

MOVIES

The Fountain, Gladiator, Cold Mountain, Last Samurai, Under the Tuscan Sun, Braveheart, Rob Roy, Anna and the King, Lord of The Rings, Star Wars, and Wonder Woman.
Poldark makes me feel some kind of way...
Outlander Season 5...I'm ready for more!!!

TV SHOWS

My guilty pleasure is binge watching On Demand and Netflix shows. Game of Thrones, Last Kingdom, Vikings, Outlander, Altered Carbon, Salvation, Frankenstein Chronicles, Black Sails, Poldark, 300 and Spartacus.  This is Us (yes, I’m on that bandwagon).

INSPIRATIONS

Quiet mornings and coffee.  Soundtracks. The ocean. The rain. Old books. Conversation with friends.
